Understanding user roles and permissions in BusinessMind for Jewelers

In BusinessMind, a user's roles control what features they are permitted to use. The following is a summary of the roles you can assign to user accounts

Sales Related Roles

Sales Associate
A user with the sales associate role can sell items either through the jewelry retail  point of sale, or the wholesale invoicing screens, with limited customer lookup abilities.

Sales Manager
A user with the the sales manager role can search in search in sales, contacts, orders and inventory, and can also perform the following specific abilities:

  • Change prices, discounts, tax rates, and sales accounts on invoices

  • Edit commissions

  • Change amounts and accounts on credit notes

  • Enter refunds and payments, and, allocate credit notes

  • View inventory costs, supplier details and customer balances

  • Edit customer balance limits and discounts

  • Merge contacts

  • Adjust inventory prices

Workshop Roles

Workshop Artisan
A user with the workshop artisan role can use the workshop screens to update the status of jobs.

Workshop Manager
A user with the workshop manager role can search in inventory, contacts, orders and workshop jobs. They can also view inventory cost and supplier information, as well as move SKUs between different shelf locations.

Inventory Management Roles

Inventory Controller
A user with the inventory controller role can lookup basic inventory information, as well as edit basic info on Models and SKUs. This role is also permitted to move SKUs between different shelf locations. 

Inventory Manager
A user with the inventory manager role has access to all inventory functions, including view and edit costs, adjust quantities and prices, and use the batch update advanced inventory tools. Inventory Managers can also search workshop jobs and customer orders.

Special Roles

Marketing Manager
A user with the marketing manager role can search in sales and contacts.

Customer Service Manager

A user with the customer service manager role can search in sales, contacts, and orders, and, can also perform the following specific abilities.

  • Enter payments and allocate credit notes

  • View customer balance information

  • Merge contacts

Bookkeeper
A user with the the bookkeeper role can search in search in sales, contacts, and inventory, and can also perform the following specific abilities:

  • Edit invoice and credit note sales accounts

  • Edit tax rates

  • Authorize exceptions for exceeding customer balance limits

  • Enter refunds and payments, and, allocate credit notes

  • View inventory costs, supplier details and customer balances

  • Edit customer balance limits and discounts

Administrative Roles

Manager
This role is unrestricted for all application functions except configuring integrations.

Admin
This role is unrestricted and can perform all functions in the application.
