The jobs import tool can be accessed from the Tools menu, Jobs, Import Jobs... option. The Import Jobs feature allows you to import Job records into BusinessMind from a CSV ("Comma Seperated Values") file.

The first row of the file must be a "header" row specifying the column names. Only the columns listed below are supported and each column may occur only once. The column names are case-sensitive. You may include columns in any order. For your convenience a template file has been attached to this topic which can be downloaded and utilized.

  1. The "ClientName" column is required, and must match the "Name" field of an existing Client Contact, or the Job will fail to import.

  2. The "BarCodeId" field must be unique across all Job records; If this field is left blank, a new Bar Code ID will be generated automatically which is recommended.

  3. Date fields such as "JobDate" should be entered in the format YYYY-MM-DD, such as "2009-08-30" for August 30th, 2009.

  4. Date & Time fields such as "DateTimePromised" should be entered in the format "YYYY-MM-DD hh:mm", such as "2009-07-27 15:13" for July 27, 2009, 3:13 PM. The hours:minutes section can be ommitted.

  5. Any monetary columns must be in regular number format (not monetary format) Example: 800.00

As mentioned above, a template file has been attached to this topic. We recommend removing any unused columns. In addition we recommend sending a sample of your import file to our support engineer's for review. Upon completion of your import file we again recommend you contact our support engineer's to assist you in creating a proper back up of your system before you importing your data. It is very important to note that the import data into the system can not be undone.
