Before you begin please note that you should never change the percentage of an existing taxrate. Instead create a new taxrate for the new percentage with a new name.
For example: You have a NY Tax in the system. NY changes their tax amount. You would now create a new taxrate labeled differently like NY 7.25% with the new rate. Anyone who comes in returning something with the previous tax will automatically end up with the proper calculation. In addition when you run the sales tax data you will more clearly see which tax rate was used and you can prove the amount with that information.

To create a tax rule follow the directions below.

  • From the BusinessMind home page click on the Sales link.

  • From the Sales home page click the Tax Rates link.

  • Click the plus button to create a new tax rate

  • Here you can name your tax rate and set the tax percentage.  Click the check icon to save your tax rate.

  • Once created you will see your new tax rate in your list.

To modify a tax rate simply click on the tax rate to modify, make your changes and click the check icon to save.

Contact the DCIT support staff if you would like to set a tax to default on your transactions. Simply provide them with your geolocation and tax rate name and they can assist.
