When a sku accumulates a certain number of events and the sku's qty hits zero, the system will lock the ability to manually manage the qty of this sku from the sku detail view. The reason for this is the qty adjust option is not intended to be utilized as a workaround to proper receiving as circumventing the receiving process is a bad idea and will have unfortunate long term consequences. Because of this the system will lock the on screen sku qty change as a way to prevent people from cheating where items have a list events associated to this sku. Its always good practice to use the qty adjustment when it is really an adjustment and use receiving to add more inventory. This affects the metrics and accounting too, so take care to use the different features for the right purposes.

Of course we know that sometimes there are special circumstances that require this ability which is why our admin tools will still allow you to modify the qty. The directions below will guide you on using the administration tool to modify a qty

  • From the BusinessMind Home Page click on the Invenotry link.

  • Locate the Related Resources section and choose the Advanced Inventory Tools link.

  • Locate the Adjust Sku Quantities at your Geolocations section.

  • From here you can click on the Need to create an adjustment file? Use this template link which will prompt you to save the template file.

  • Open this CSV file with your favorite spreadsheet editor.

  • Only ONE of the three sku, barcode, and rfcode fields are needed. Fill in the one that works for you with the info and be sure to make sure the case matches.
For example: If you are utilizing the Sku field then leave barcode and rfcode blank. If you rather use the barcode field, then leave sku and rfcode blank. Only one of these three is utilized.

  • The shelf field is also required and must match the shelf the item is in exactly case sensitive. A default shelf in BusinessMind is Vault.

  • Only ONE of the qty fields should be utilized.
The qty field is what the qty will be after you feed in the file (what ever is entered here will be the qty on the sku when the file is processed)
qty_change is if you want the system to add (or subtract) qty from the current qty listed in BusinessMind on the sku. Example: If the current qty of the sku in BusinessMind is 0 and you want to ADD 3 more to it. Inputing 3 into the qty_change field result in 3 on the sku after the file is processed.

  • The comments field is for a note or comment of why you are making the change and is also required.

  • When the skus qty in BusinessMind is currently ZERO you will need to ADD an additional column to the spreadsheet that is not present in the template file. This column should be labeled create_new_shelf and have a value of true. This additional field is ONLY required if the Sku's CURRENT qty in BusinessMind is 0

  • After you have filled out your file be sure to save as a csv file as this is the only supported format.

  • To process the file click the choose file button and select your file.

  • Click the Start button to run the process. When finished BusinessMind will give you a results sheet informing you of the changes.
