Understanding the new Point of Sale interface

Describes how to navigate and use the point of sale (pos) in BusinessMind software for retail jewelers.

Before we begin it is important to note the following info about the Point of Sale.

  • Receipt emailing and texting features are disabled by default but can be turned on with a little help and setup from support@dcit.com.

To access the point of sale simply click the point of sale icon from the BusinessMind home page

  • This will load the Point of Sale checkout interface.

  • You can utilize the Tracking drop down to select tracking information for your transactions.

  • Clicking on the Assisted By link will allow you to add multiple sales associates to your transactions.  You can also remove a selected associate by reselecting them from the list.

  • To exit the point of sale interface click on the Tray icon to display the tools tray and choose the Exit POS option.

  • To create discounts that can be utilized from the point of sale click on the Tray icon to display the tools tray and choose the Discounts option.  For more detailed information on how to create and utilize discounts click here.

  • The Checkout button can be utilized to bring you back to the main checkout tray.

  • To search and select a customer, click on the Customer button.  This should always be your first step when entering the point of sale. For more detailed information click here.

  • To add items to the checkout tray you can either utilize the Scan button or the Stock button.  For more information on this process click here.

  • To create a job utilize the Take In Job button.  For more detailed information on this process click here.

  • To take in additional prepayments towards a current job utilize the Jobs button to search and select the job you need to take the payment for. For more information on this process click here.

  • When a customer is picking up an existing job utilize the Jobs button to search and select the job they are picking up.  For more detailed information on this process click here

  • To place an item on layaway you can either utilize the Scan button or the Stock button.  For more information on this process click here.

  • To take in additional prepayments towards a current layaway item utilize the Layaways button to search and select the layaway item you need to take the payment for. For more information on this process click here.

  • When a customer is picking up a layaway item utilize the Layaways button to search and select the layaway item they are picking up.  For more detailed information on this process click here.

  • To create a trade in utilize the Trade-In button.  For more information detailed information on this process click here.

  • To sell or replenish a Gift Card utilize the Gift Card button

  • To apply discounts to ALL items in your checkout tray utilize the Discount button.

  • Utilize the Transaction button to look up previous transactions.  From here you can choose items to process a Return / Refund and or Exchange.  You also have options to reprint a receipt or even a gift receipt.  For more detailed information on Returns / Refunds click here.  For more detailed information on Exchanges click here.
