It is important to note that not all credits can be compatible with the new point of sale.
A customers store credit will only appear available for use if the system can find a single credit note whose amount due is equal to the credit balance on the customers account.
In addition if the resulting transaction ends in store credit this must be either refunded or placed own a gift card http://docs.bmjapp.help/en/articles/3399428-how-to-place-a-store-credit-onto-a-gift-card. The transaction can not be placed as more store credit!
From the point of sale click on the Customer button to search and select the customer you are processing the sale for.
If the customer has a compatible store credit you will see the wallet icon appear next to the selected contacts name.
Add the item(s) to the sale then click the wallet icon to utilize the store credit.
The store credit will appear as a line item. You can now press the charge button and take in any additional payments to complete the trasnaction
If the store credit is higher then the purchasing amount you will have a refund option.
The POS strongly encourages all transactions to net to zero as a POS should. While it does allow some exceptions, this area does not.
If this is not desirable, there are two alternatives right now.
If you prefer not to give cash or credit card refunds, you can issue the remaining refund amount onto a gift card or gift card instead. Most stores find this more desirable than carrying customer account balances for many reasons. http://docs.bmjapp.help/en/articles/3399428-how-to-place-a-store-credit-onto-a-gift-card
You have full flexibility to manage transactions of any complexity from outside the POS interface, using what we call the "back office" interface. So, you could do something like make the sale taking no payment, then exit the POS and from the "back office area" of the app apply any portion of the refund as desired to the sale you just made. Optionally reprint the receipt.
Additional Notes:
Prepayments are not available via the wallet icon as these are designated for jobs and or layaways. If you have a prepayment that is no longer assigned to a job or layaway and would like to convert it to be used as a credit via the wallet icon from the point of sale you can. Simply create a sale using the custom amount to utilize the prepayment (allocate them together) then create a credit note using the custom credit amount option (the 2 will cancel each other out so the end result is still a credit for the client). Of course you can simply use the prepayment from the back office and not need for these extra steps.
