Sometimes you may find that you need to update a large number of Model's, for example, if you wanted to change the price on model records.   The Advanced Inventory Tools - Batch Update Model function can help you do this without having to click and edit each Model individually.

From the inventory home screen, navigate to the Advanced Inventory Administration Tools screen.

Look for the Batch Update Models section...

Click the link to download the data file template, then open the file.

You can update model pricing in two ways by model number or by model barcode.

  • If you want to update the model pricing by model number then you must fill out both the model field and the brand field.  Both these fields are case sensitive and must match the model number and the brand exactly as you see them on the model record.

  • If you want to update the model pricing by model barcode then you only need to fill in the barcode field.  Again this is case sensitive and must appear exactly as it does on the model record.  It is very important to note that this is not the sku barcode it is the barcode number found on the model detail view.  Because this field is unique you are not reauired to fill in the brand if you are using the model barcode.

Tip: If you export a CSV of all the Models you need to adjust from a Smart Set, you can make sure that smart set has the model and brand or even barcode so that you can easily have this info populated.  In addition you can use your spreadsheet program to apply a formula to your price column, such as, [price + 10%] . Then you can use those values in the template.

To apply the changes simply click the Choose the file option under the Batch Update Models section and then click the Batch Update Models button.

The Models will be updated with the new values and a result file will be returned confirming the changes have been made.

It is important that you are careful when using this tool. It can save you a lot of work to be able to manipulate data in large batches at once this way, but it can also let you mess things up in one swift blow! Triple check your work before using!
